Assistive Technology Assessment Services in Perth
BlueRocket provides Assistive Technology Assessments to NDIS, aged care and privately paying clients of all ages in the Perth Metro area.

What is an Assistive Technology Assessment?
An Assistive Technology Assessment is an appointment where an Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist identifies the equipment that would help you do the things you want to do, and writes the report the NDIS needs in order to fund it. At BlueRocket in Perth it usually begins with a conversation about your daily routine, then trialling a few options so you can compare them properly. Most assessments take one to two sessions, and we prepare the funding application at the end.
What counts as assistive technology?
Assistive technology covers a wide range of tools, devices and equipment that make everyday participation easier — from shower rails and wheelchairs to communication devices and sensory supports. It can be life-changing at any age, whether that's moving around safely, communicating in the way that works best for you, or managing daily tasks at home.
Who carries out the assessment?
At BlueRocket, AT assessments are carried out by our Perth-based Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. We take care of the whole process: the initial consultation, device trials, recommendations, fitting, training and the funding application.
Steps Involved
When conducting Assistive Technology Assessments, our OTs and Speech Pathologists follow a structured, person-centred approach to ensure you receive the right equipment and support.
Initial consultation
We get to know your goals, needs, and daily environments.
Assessment & observation
We observe you completing everyday tasks to identify your strengths as well as any barriers you may face. We may also carry out specialised assessments to get a deeper understanding of your needs.
Device trials
You try suitable equipment in real-world settings and we assess fit and function. This includes:
- Mobility supports —customised wheelchairs, walkers, or scooters to enhance safe movement and community access.
- Seating and positioning supports —specialised chairs, cushions, standing frames, and beds to improve posture, comfort, sleep, and participation.
- Daily living supports —adapted cutlery, specialised cups, or dressing aids to make mealtimes and self-care easier.
Recommendations & NDIS reporting
We provide personalised advice on the best solutions and prepare detailed reports to support funding applications.
Training & follow-up
We provide hands-on training and ongoing support for you, and key people in your life (as required) to ensure you’re confident and comfortable using your equipment.
Who We Support
AT Assessments are available to people of all ages and funding types who require daily living supports, mobility aids, home automation and access technology.
The purpose of an AT Assessment is to identify and connect you with suitable technology solutions, and provide the evidence for funding. It’s the necessary first step towards accessing the equipment you need to engage more meaningfully with the world around you.
