Do I need a referral to access your services?

No. You don’t need a referral to access therapy at BlueRocket—you can self-refer and get started quickly. However, if you’re using funding through the NDIS or other programs, a GP, NDIS planner, or specialist referral may be helpful for planning and approvals.

What is the NDIS and who is eligible?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for Australians with permanent and significant disabilities that impact their daily life. Eligibility depends on your age (under 65 when applying), residency, and the impact of your disability. You can check your eligibility on the NDIS website.

How do I get NDIS funding?

To pay for services using NDIS funding, you first need to meet NDIS eligibility criteria and have a current NDIS plan. Once you have an NDIS plan, you can self-refer to BlueRocket or be referred by those in your support network i.e. your Support Coordinator, Local Area Coordinator, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner etc.

No. If you have an NDIS plan, you can self-refer or be referred by a Support Coordinator, GP, or allied health professional.

What types of therapy can NDIS funding cover?

NDIS funding can be used for a wide range of allied health supports we provide, including:

Occupational Therapy – independence, daily living, home modifications.

What NDIS categories do therapy services fall under?

Once you have an approved NDIS plan, you can see if you have funding for therapy in the Capacity Building - Improved Daily living section. You may see therapy supports listed in two different ways:

Stated Supports – Your plan specifies exactly what type of therapy your funding must be used for (e.g. Occupational Therapy).

Non-Stated Supports – Your plan includes a Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living that you can use flexibly for any type of therapy you choose. This flexibility means you can direct your funding to the services that matter most to you, whether that’s OT, speech, physio, or specialised supports.

What do the different NDIS plan management types mean?

Self-managed: You control your budget, pay providers directly, and claim back from the NDIS. This offers the most flexibility.

Plan-managed: A registered Plan Manager pays providers on your behalf.

NDIA-managed (agency-managed): The NDIA pays providers directly, but you can only use NDIS-registered providers.

BlueRocket works with self-managed and plan-managed participants.

Can you help me prepare for my NDIS plan review?

Yes. Our therapists prepare detailed reports to demonstrate progress, justify continued funding, and recommend supports for your next plan. These reports can make your NDIS plan review smoother and more successful.

Is autism, developmental delay, or mental health covered by the NDIS?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The NDIS supports people whose disability significantly affects daily activities, including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), global developmental delay, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, or other long-term conditions. Do you charge for work outside of face-to-face sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We bill for therapy time plus essential activities like preparation, case notes, reports, and liaising with your supports. These are charged at the same hourly rate as therapy. We don’t charge for scheduling appointments. How we charge for services is aligned with the NDIS pricing framework and guidelines.

Do you charge for travel?

If your therapist travels to you, we charge for travel time (up to 30 minutes each way) and kilometres travelled, to and from the appointment location. For travel time, we charge at the therapy hourly rate, while for kilometres, we charge $0.99 per kilometre travelled. We always follow NDIS rules and explain travel costs upfront.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 2 clear business days’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be billed up to 100% of the session fee, as per NDIS rules. In emergencies, please let us know as soon as possible, we aim to be fair.

How can I pay for my sessions?

Invoices are issued after services. For NDIS participants, invoices go to your Plan Manager, or you (if self-managed). Private clients receive invoices after services too, and you can pay via bank transfer. Rebates (Medicare or private health) are claimed by you after payment.

What happens in my first session?

Your first session includes information gathering and a discussion about you, your supports, your strengths, things you find challenging and your goals. This helps your clinician understand your needs and create a personalised therapy plan tailored to you.

The frequency of sessions varies depending on your individual goals and needs. Your clinician will work with you to develop a schedule that supports your progress effectively.

Will I work with the same therapist each time?

Yes. We prioritise continuity of care by matching you with a clinician who will support you throughout your therapy journey whenever possible. This helps build trust between client and clinician, with a shared understanding of your unique therapy plan.

You can still see more than one clinician at BlueRocket, however, for example when you are seeing both an Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologist for different goals.

Do you offer home, school, or telehealth sessions?

Yes. BlueRocket provides flexible therapy options including home visits, school-based sessions, and telehealth consultations where appropriate. Working with you in your natural environments ensures therapy is relevant, purposeful and personalised so that you can participate more meaningfully in daily life.

Yes. Our Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech Pathologists offer specialised advice on equipment to support your therapy and daily living needs. This includes prescribing, trialling and training clients in Assistive Technology like mobility aids and Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
