NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments in Perth
BlueRocket Therapy offers NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) in Perth, helping participants understand their abilities, access appropriate supports, and achieve greater independence in everyday life.

What are NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments?
An NDIS Functional Capacity Assessment is conducted specifically to provide evidence for NDIS planning, funding allocation, plan reviews or eligibility decisions.
These assessments assist participants and their support networks in understanding current functional skills, determining appropriate levels of support, and informing planning under the NDIS.
How Are Functional Capacity Assessments Funded Under the NDIS?
NDIS funding can cover functional capacity assessments as part of your Capacity Building supports. Once a person is an NDIS participant and their plan includes funding for these supports, BlueRocket Therapy can deliver assessments that can be claimed with NDIS funding.
If you require a general Functional Capacity Assessment outside of the NDIS, visit our Functional Capacity Assessment service page.
Our NDIS Functional Capacity Assessment Services

BlueRocket Therapy provides structured, evidence-based FCAs tailored to each participant. Assessments focus on understanding how a person manages daily tasks, navigates their environment and participates in home and community life.
Assessments may include observation of daily activities, review of mobility and communication needs, consideration of assistive technology and identification of appropriate levels of support.
Where required, we provide clear, detailed assessment reports suitable for NDIS plan reviews and funding requests, written to support understanding for participants, families, and healthcare professionals.

How We Support Your NDIS Goals
BlueRocket works closely with other allied disciplines, so you don’t need to keep repeating yourself. Our capacity assessments are specifically designed to align with NDIS goals and identify everyday needs.
Initial consultation & information gathering
Your clinician will take the time to understand your NDIS plan, priorities and goals. This information guides the assessment focus and keeps the recommendations relevant, practical and meaningful.
Observation & standardised assessment
You will be observed performing everyday tasks either in person or via telehealth, so we can accurately understand where supports are needed.
This includes activities related to self‑care, meal preparation, mobility, communication and other participation areas identified in your goals. We may also use validated tools (including physical, cognitive and psychosocial measures) to provide objective information about your functional capacity across a range of tasks.
Report writing & support recommendations
Your NDIS FCA is delivered by a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) trained in NDIS assessment and reporting. The assessment focuses on your real-life functioning and may address areas such as:
- Estimated support hours in line with functional needs
- Assistive technology (e.g. mobility aids, communication equipment)
- Functional goals that support daily participation
- Home modifications (e.g. grab rails, non-slip surfaces)
- Support for access to community programs
Your report is written to support NDIS funding decisions, reviews, or future planning. You’ll have an opportunity to review the draft and provide feedback before it's finalised.
Follow-up & interpretation
After the report is finalised, we continue to support you by explaining our findings in plain language, interpreting the recommendations, and offering guidance on next steps. We can liaise with your NDIS team, support coordinator, or other allied health professionals to ensure recommendations are understood and implemented clearly.
Who We Support
FCAs are useful at various points in a participant’s NDIS journey. Some need an assessment when applying for funding, others when their plan is being reviewed, and still others as part of an eligibility reassessment.
People making an initial application for NDIS funding
For individuals making an initial application, an FCA offers a detailed account of their functional skills and support requirements. It can help you effectively demonstrate your needs, provide a personalised plan to guide your next steps, and give you peace of mind that your application accurately reflects your support needs.
Existing NDIS participants undergoing a plan review
If your circumstances or needs have changed, an FCA can reassess your situation and provide updated recommendations. This can include evidence supporting requests for additional funding or adjustments to ensure your plan continues to reflect your daily needs.
Existing NDIS participants undergoing an eligibility assessment
An FCA can also provide evidence considered during an NDIS eligibility reassessment, helping demonstrate current needs and abilities. This ensures that ongoing access to funding and services aligns with your functional needs and goals.
An FCA is not a requirement of the NDIS. Funding applications can also be made with a letter from a health professional. However, an FCA provides a comprehensive, structured and evidence-based understanding of your support needs
